Brigitte Bardot

'All my life…I was never what I wanted to be, which was frank, honest, and straightforward. I wasn’t scandalous — I didn’t want to be. I wanted to be myself. Only myself.'

Brigitte Bardot

A fleeting yet stellar career on screen left her a household name for the ages, known best as the original bombshell and French It girl. Iconised by her blonde mane, doe eyes and pillowy lips, world famous Brigitte Bardot stepped out of the spotlight in 1973, and forged a path less travelled.

Following her childhood dreams, she embarked on a new journey as an animal rights activist, founding her charity, the 'Brigitte Bardot Foundation for the Welfare and Protection of Animals'. From whaling to the mistreatment of horses and unethical practises of industrial animal farms, one can find Bardot continuing the fight today.

An ode to an icon and her beloved pride of animals, dive right in with us.

‘All of my causes, including the most radical, are motivated by the defense of animals. I don’t care about looking conservative and awkward. I’m only looking to assuage my soul and protect the animals.'

Brigitte Bardot

'It’s what I dreamed of. It’s what I always wanted.'

Brigitte Bardot, on her life's dedication to animals

'I gave my beauty and my youth to men. I am going to give my wisdom and experience to animals. Animals have never betrayed me. They are an easy prey, as I have been throughout my career.'
